Call promptly for urgent symptoms
Facial swelling, fever with tooth pain, uncontrolled bleeding, a knocked-out tooth, or trauma to the mouth should be handled as urgent.
A broken tooth, lost crown, or severe toothache may also need same-day attention depending on pain and risk of infection.
What to do first
Call the office and describe what happened, when it started, and whether swelling or fever is present.
For a knocked-out adult tooth, keep it moist and seek help immediately. Fast action can make a major difference.
